Stafford Police Warning of Bitcoin Scam Targeting Businesses

(STAFFORD) - Stafford police are warning local businesses of a scam involving package deliveries.

According to police, businesses are being contacted by people identifying themselves by the actual name of a manager or headquarters saying that a package is being delivered to the business and money needs to be taken out of the safe for payment. The victims are then directed to deposit the fund into Bitcoin ATMs.

Police say anyone who receives one of these calls should hang up and contact the actual manager to verify any information.

“Package deliveries are not going to be paid with cash from the safe and especially not Bitcoin,” police said.
