Public Meetings Scheduled for TxDOT’s Proposed FM 359 Project

(FORT BEND COUNTY) – The Texas Department of Transportation will hold two public meetings to present and gather feedback on a proposed project that would widen FM 359 from FM 1093 to Mason Road.

A virtual presentation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24 5:30 p.m. and be available through Feb. 10. An in-person presentation will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Foster High School cafeteria, 4400 Farm to Market Road 723 in Richmond.

The proposed improvements to FM 359 would include the reconstruction and widening of the existing roadway from two lanes to four lanes, and the construction of shared use paths to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. The improvements would also include 12-foot-wide left-turn lanes in various locations and the construction of a typical 18-foot-wide raised median (the proposed median width varies). The number of lanes may vary along the project limits to accommodate turning movements at various intersections and driveways.

The project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right-of-way and potentially displace one residence and seven non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.
