(FORT BEND COUNTY) -The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division recently received sensory kits thanks to the nonprofit, Hope for Three and its partnership with Lighthouse Learning Resources. A kit was donated for every FBCSO patrol vehicle.
Each kit consists of sensory-friendly tools to be given to an individual who has a cognitive disability in efforts to de-escalate a situation and build trust. The kits were made possible through a Department of Justice Federal grant.
Hope for Three along with Lighthouse Learning Resources conducted training for patrol deputies regarding interactions with persons on the autism spectrum and the use of the sensory kits.
