Boil Water Notice Issued in Needville

(NEEDVILLE) - The City of Needville has issued a boil water notice due to a water line break creating low water pressure. This is for the inside the city limits only and only applies to residents that receive a water bill from the city.

The notice calls for all Needville water utility customers to boil their water prior to consumption when the water pressure drops below 20 psi. Customers who do not live in city limits or are on well water do not need to boil their water.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, officials will notify customers that the water is safe for human consumption purposes.

As a precaution the city advises that residents do not drink or ingest the water until the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.

Anyone with questions should call 979-793-4253.
