(FORT BEND COUNTY) - The Fort Bend Club of The University of Houston Alumni Association is offering scholarships for graduating seniors of high schools in Fort Bend County who have been accepted for admission to the University of Houston – Central Campus for the 2023-2024 school year.
Scholarships are awarded for one-year and paid in two installments, once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher in the fall semester to receive the spring installment of this award.
Eligible applicants must have graduated from an accredited high school in Fort Bend County.
Accredited high schools include any high schools in the Fort Bend Independent School District, Lamar Consolidated Independent School District or Needville Independent School District. Also eligible to apply are graduates of Fort Bend Christian Academy, Calvary Episcopal School, Harmony Science Academy-West Houston, Cinco Ranch, Jordan, Katy, Seven Lakes and Tompkins High Schools in the Katy Independent School District.
Applicant must be a first-time student eligible for admission to the University of Houston as a freshman without waiver, on an unconditional basis and must be enrolled at the University of Houston-Central Campus in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation to receive this scholarship award.
This award applies only to the University of Houston-Central Campus and not to the other universities in the UH System, such as UH-Downtown, UH-Clear Lake, UH-Victoria and UH-Sugar Land.
The Fort Bend Club selection committee will consider academic performance, extracurricular activities, financial need and relationship with UH in making their selections. The committee shall determine the relative weight given to each criterion. There are no restrictions to applicants based on gender, race, nationality, country or origin, physical disability, sexual orientation or veteran status.
A completed application with all requested attachments is due by Friday, March 17. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. All applicants will be notified of their status in May.
