Two of FBISD’s Student-Run Businesses Will Open to the Community Feb. 11

(FORT BEND ISD) – Two of Fort Bend ISD’s Career and Technical Education student-run businesses, The Shop and The Salon, will be open to the community on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the James Reese Career and Technical Center, 12300 University Blvd. in Sugar Land.

Transportation students will provide state inspections, oil changes and tire rotations and balancing. In addition, new this month, The Shop will host a car show where local car dealers will showcase high-end vehicles. Cosmetology students will provide manicures and pedicures. FBISD’s CTE department holds events the second Saturday of each month to spotlight the district’s student-run businesses that are open during the week. The businesses provide students real-world experience and offers community members services at reasonable rates. Students operate the businesses under the supervision of lab managers; services offered increase in complexity throughout the school year as students gain additional knowledge and skills.
