(SUGAR LAND) – Following an investigation by the Sugar Land Police Department working with the local Postal Inspector’s Office, two men have been arrested for stealing mail from a large drop box.
Mail Theft is a growing crime with suspects targeting large drop boxes which often lead to even more crimes against unsuspecting victims. On Dec. 30, 2022 a collaborative enforcement effort between SLPD and USPS resulted in the arrest of two suspects stealing mail from a large drop box.
La Darius Jones and Ceasar Avila, both of Houston, are in custody and facing charges for mail theft but could possibly face severe federal charges.
Mail theft should be reported to USPIS at 877-876-2455.
