Sugar Land Lions Hosting January Hunger Awareness Food Drive

(SUGAR LAND) - The Sugar Land Lions are collecting non-perishable food items during the Lions’ January Hunger Awareness Month benefiting Second Mile to help restock their food pantry after the demanding holiday season.

We believe food should never be an impossible choice,” said officials with the Sugar Land Lions. “Unfortunately, almost 4 million Texans are facing hunger with 1 and 5 being children. With more people finding themselves on hard times trying to recover from the pandemic and dealing with the cost of inflation, we want to try to lessen their burden and strengthen our communities by joining together with programs like Second Mile and citizens like you.”

Items most needed include:

Canned Meat (tuna, chicken, salmon, etc), canned chili, canned vegetables (corn, green beans, carrots, etc), canned fruit, canned or dry beans, peanut butter, pasta/dry noodles, rice, canned soup, canned ravioli. No glass containers.

Donations can be dropped off at Lion Ever Ramirez’s Edward Jones office in Sugar Land Town Center Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Sugar Land Lions meet the first and third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Sugar Land Imperial Rec Center’s meeting room.
