Older Students in FBISD Special Education Program Honored at Recent Space Cowboys Game

(FORT BEND ISD) – The Space Cowboys baseball team recently celebrated and honored special education students from the district, as well as their families and teachers during pre-game activities.

Fort Bend ISD's Adult Transition Services team was honored at the Space Cowboys game against the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The students are enrolled in an FBISD program that allows them to be successfully employed at local companies, achieve educational goals after graduating high school, and live as independently as possible as young adults.

Space Cowboys General Manager Chris Parsons and Double Dave’s Pizzaworks Owner Alex Sowells invited the group in order to shine a light on the productive partnerships that exist between Fort Bend ISD special education students in the work-based program, businesses that hire them, and the teachers and families that guide and support the students.

The students were invited to enjoy the game and treats at Constellation Field on Sept. 22 when the local minor league baseball team played the El Paso Chihuahuas. The Space Cowboys are a triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They won the game 4-3.
