(Fort Bend ISD) – The Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees has selected Bowie Middle School Assistant Principal Michael Yelvington as the new principal of the school.
Yelvington has served as Bowie’s associate/assistant principal for more than 10 years, since 2011. He has also served as the FBISD Summer School Coordinator/Principal, training other principals on best practices for successful summer learning programs.
Yelvington served as the assistant principal at David Crockett Middle School in FBISD for four years and as a math teacher and coach in various districts dating back to 1997.
Yelvington has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston.
He succeeds Brian Shillingburg who was recently named the new campus leader at Clements High School when Principal David Yaffie retired.
