(SUGAR LAND) - A backpack and a bag containing a mother rabbit and her four babies were abandoned around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night outside of a door at Sugar Land Animal Services. The animals were not found by staff until 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Animal abandonment is a Class A Misdemeanor in Sugar Land, and officials are hoping someone will recognize the vehicle captured on surveillance video.
“While we understand families might undergo changing circumstances and ability to care for pets, animal abandonment is never the answer,” shelter officials said.
