Fort Bend ISD’s Austin High School Marching Band, Dance Team Advance to UIL 6A State Contest

(FORT BEND ISD) – Fort Bend ISD’s Austin High School marching band and dance team have advanced to compete in the UIL 6A Marching Band State Contest next week in San Antonio.


This past Saturday, Austin High School and seven other FBISD 6A high school marching band programs - Bush, Clements, Dulles, Elkins, Ridge Point and Travis high schools - competed in the Area E Marching Contest at Challenger-Columbia Stadium in Webster.


Austin High School finished third and Clements High School finished sixth in the preliminary competition to advance and perform in the finals.


Austin High School’s fourth place performance in the finals qualifies the program to attend the state competition next week. Clements High School placed eight in the competition and will not advance to the state level.


Austin High School will perform Monday, Nov. 7, in the Alamodome at 11:15 a.m. in the preliminary competition.


Austin High School marching band and dance team staff include Band Director Adrian Caswell, Assistant Band Director Jay Lopez, Percussion Specialist Lee Willis, Head Dance Director Mysha Baldwin and Assistant Dance Director Ashlee Williamson.
