(FORT BEND ISD) - Fort Bend ISD has announced that Sugar Mill Elementary teacher Lindsey Koon and Dulles High School teacher James Riddick were named Fort Bend ISD’s 2023 Elementary and Secondary teachers of the year at FBISD’s annual event this month.
Koon teaches special education to children whose disabilities make it difficult for them to communicate. She helps students find their voice through sign language, speaking with the use of a computer-generated device, or a simple exchange of picture symbols.
Riddick is passionate about teaching geometry because of the unique challenge it presents in developing the critical thinking skills and perseverance that he believes all students need.
The two honorees will advance to the regional Teacher of the Year competition, with an opportunity to advance to the Texas Teacher of the Year Program.
