Fort Bend ISD Again Named Among Best Communities for Music Education

(FORT BEND ISD) – For the 14th consecutive year, Fort Bend ISD has been named among the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation for its “commitment to music education.”

The distinction is based on the district’s funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

“Receiving the Best Communities for Music Education designation for the 14th consecutive year affirms the quality of our district’s music education programs and supports our department’s vision to transform students’ lives through the pursuit of musical excellence,” FBISD Director of Fine Arts James Drew said. “The performing arts are an essential component in the FBISD curriculum. Now more than ever, students need music to unite them, to offer them an expressive outlet and to engage in the creative process with their peers.”

FBISD offers a daily music curriculum with more than 48,000 students participating in music courses each day. The district’s financial support provides instruments, sheet music, musical supplies and masterclass teachers. FBISD also supports teachers new to the district through a mentoring program.
