(FRESNO) – A Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Deputy shot and killed a 21-year-old man following a traffic stop in which the driver assaulted the deputy.
At approximately 10:17 p.m. the deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 2400 block of
Naill Road in Fresno. During the traffic stop the deputy encountered the 21-year-old Hispanic male driver who was noncompliant, evaded and then assaulted the officer. During the encounter, the deputy shot the suspect who died at the scene.
The deputy was taken to Memorial Hermann Pearland where he was treated and released.
The Texas Rangers are leading a multi-agency investigation involving the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, the deputy and witnesses.
