(FORT BEND ISD) – Fort Bend ISD will engage the community in the attendance boundary planning process in the northwest and southeast areas of the district through two virtual public hearings on Friday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
The northwest planning process will aim to provide relief at Travis High School and Bowie Middle School. The hearing will also address minimal boundary adjustments to further align area feeder patterns.
Planning for the southeast side of the district will engage the community in the attendance boundary planning process to establish an attendance community for the fall 2023 opening of Alyssa Ferguson Elementary; establish an attendance community for the fall 2023 opening of Almeta Crawford High School and provide relief at Heritage Rose Elementary for the near term.
The public hearing will be streamed on the District's YouTube channel. All district stakeholders can share feedback online through Thoughtexchange, a discussion management software tool, to bring people together to have dialogue in an anonymous fashion. The Thoughtexchange platform will open at 6 p.m. on Jan. 20 and close at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 27.
Once all feedback has been received, district staff will take into consideration the public comment before a final proposal is made to the Board of Trustees.
Last year, the district implemented a new eight-step boundary change process, aimed at making the process more transparent and streamlined. Visit www.fortbendisd.com/attendanceboundaries to learn more about the process. Watch a video about the attendance boundary process.
The FBISD Administration Building will not be open during the virtual public hearing as the hearing will be viewable via the public video stream.
