FBISD Students Win ‘I am Texas’ Annual Writing, Art Competition

(FORT BEND ISD) – Four Fort Bend ISD students earned awards in the “I Am Texas” contest, which highlights students’ stories and artwork about Texas.

The 2023 FBISD winners are:


Vrishni Krishnan, 8th grader at Sartartia Middle School, Top Award for middle school short story “The Sword Vrishni,” $100 prize


Aaryahi Chandrayan, 2nd grader at Malala Elementary, Top Award for elementary art “Texan's Original Sport,” $50 prize


Advika Asthana, 7th grader at Quail Valley Middle School, Honorable Mention for short story “Mints and Eagle Hilts”


Aditya Anand, 10th grader at Austin High School, 3rd place for digital art “Summer Ride”


The students along with other winners throughout the state are invited to a special reception Nov. 19 at The Bryan Museum in Galveston, where winning art will be on display through the end of the year. Also, winning art and written submissions will be published in the Historian’s Journal which will become part of the museum’s permanent library collection.


Next year’s 2024 “I Am Texas” contest is now open for submissions. Students in grades 2 – 12 are invited to participate and can find more information at www.iamtx.org.
