FBISD Students Qualify for Theatrical Design State Finals

(FORT BEND ISD)– Six Fort Bend ISD students have qualified for this year’s UIL Theatrical Design State Finals, to be held in early May.

Annually, the theatrical design contest focuses on the design of the production, not the execution, of a single play. This year’s play is Frankenstein, adapted by Dorothy Louise from the Mary Shelley novel. Students submit their ideas on the production in scene design, costume design, hair and makeup design and theater marketing.

Clements High School was selected as one of only 10 state finalists in the competitive Group Design category, comprised of students Saachi Aggarwal, Alyssa Serrano, Kayni Shah and Elena Yepsen. Clements’ Yue Lu qualified in Set Design and Kempner High School’s Emma Hoang qualified in Costume Design.

Due to the overwhelming number of submissions this year, semi-finalists were named, including four FBISD students:

  • Clements High School Savannah Farmer (Costume Design) and Emma Kuo (Marketing)

  • Dulles High SchoolAsher Dancer (Costume Design)

  • Travis High SchoolOlivia Wickliffe (Marketing)
