(FORT BEND ISD) – Fort Bend ISD’s student application for students to take off-campus Physical Education during the 2023 fall semester will be open July 17 through Aug. 13.
Local training establishments/programs must apply each year to offer off-campus PE to FBISD students. The online approval process will begin June 17. Both the student and establishment applications can be found on the district’s off-campus PE webpage. There are two categories of off-campus P.E. Activities for each category vary at the middle and high school levels. The list of approved activities can also be found on the district’s off-campus PE webpage. Middle school students can only apply for the Category I level, which requires a minimum of 15 hours per week of highly intense, professionally supervised training that leads to national level competition. The majority (10 hours or more) of the 15 hours must be achieved during weekdays (Monday-Friday). High school students can apply for either Category I or Category II activities. Category II activities require a minimum of five hours per week of highly intense, professionally supervised training with most of the hours occurring during weekdays. Category II programs must have a curriculum aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and students must participate in the entire school semester and follow the district’s academic calendar. Following the online application period, Fort Bend ISD’s Health and P.E. Coordinator will vet establishments to ensure they meet the district’s criteria. Once approved, students participating in off-campus PE will train at one of these establishments to receive P.E. credits. Local training establishments or parents who have questions can contact offcampuspe@fortbendisd.com.
