FBISD Families May Be Eligible for Another Round of P-EBT Food Benefits

(FORT BEND ISD) - The United States Department of Agriculture recently approved another round of Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food benefits for Texas families. Families must complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application and be approved by Aug. 29 to receive this additional benefit.

In order to be eligible, students must meet one of the following criteria for the 2022-23 school year:

  • Students must have been enrolled in an FBISD school and have qualified for free and reduced-price meals during the last month (May) of the last school year (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022).

  • Students must have been eligible for free or reduced-price meals during last school year or determined to be newly eligible for free or reduced-price meals for the current school year, through a household application, direct certification or categorical eligibility.

  • Students must have received previous P-EBT benefits during May of the last school year.

  • Students were eligible for free or reduced-price meals last school year but did not receive P-EBT benefits because they attended school in person and benefited from free or reduced-price meals at school.

Students who attend a newly-approved Community Eligibility Provision campus – those at Jordan Elementary and Lake Olympia Middle School – are only eligible for these new benefits if they have submitted a Free and Reduced-Price Meal application for the 2022-23 school year and are approved by Aug. 29.

Families who are directly certified through programs like SNAP and Medicaid and have received a direct certification letter do not have to apply for these additional benefits.

P-EBT is administered by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Texas Department of Agriculture and Texas Education Agency. Should you have any questions, or to check the status of your application, contact HHS directly at 833-442-1255.
