(FORT BEND ISD) - Fort Bend ISD recently held ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the opening of student resource rooms at Willowridge High School and Hodges Bend Middle School to celebrate the partnerships that will support these campuses. Second Baptist Church and Sugar Land Methodist Church will support WHS and HBMS, respectively.
FBISD’s partnerships entail the campus and community working with the district’s Collaborative Communities Department with the main goal of providing a feeder pattern with continued resources and sustainability. The partnerships is aimed at helping to address the “access gap” experienced by many students. Designated campuses have an allocated resource room to provide students with necessary and basic everyday items, including food, toiletries, clothing and shoes, and school supplies. Collaborative Communities provides support to nine partnership rooms across the district. This year, nearly 6,800 opportunities have been offered to students, from more than $65,000 in monetary and in-kind support donated by exemplary partners. Earlier this year, a ribbon cutting was also held at Baines Middle School with their exemplary partner Harvest Church.
