(FORT BEND ISD) – For the first time in its history, Fort Bend ISD will be represented by two schools at the 2023 UIL One Act Play competition after Bush and Kempner high schools advanced in the 6A and 5A contests, respectively. Both ensembles are now among the state’s top eight schools in each conference after advancing through five rounds of competition.
This year’s state contest is scheduled for May 4-6 at the Round Rock ISD’s Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center, 5800 McNeil Dr. in Austin.
As with other rounds, students were also honored with individual awards at the regional round. They include:

Kempner High School Best Performer: Isabella Fish All-Star Cast: Miles Tanner Honorable Mention: Faraz Mobli and Lulani Maya Outstanding Technician: Kajal Shah Overall Best Crew: Emily Broussard, Sofia Claros, Katerin Villalta, Sam Siddiqui, Kajal Shah and Samara Muhammad
