(FORT BEND ISD) - Registration is open for Fort Bend ISD’s Global Studies Academy’s 11th annual Global Issues Summit, which will take place April 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Travis High School, 11111 Harlem Road in Richmond. The student-run event aims to spread awareness to the community on a range of global issues and inform them about how they can act on those issues.
This year’s summit will address access and availability, ranging from basic necessities, such as food and water, to more complex assets, such as healthcare, education and infrastructure. Attendees will explore ways an interconnected global network can provide these resources to societies in isolated or developing areas, hence the theme “Global Connection: The Path to Prosperity.”
Attendees will choose breakout rooms that pique their interest, each of which will address a Sustainable Development Goal, goals set by the United Nations in 2015 in order to solve some of the world’s most prevalent issues by the year 2030. The event’s speakers range from service directors to organization chairs, and they will give a series of inspiring presentations regarding efforts that capture the spirit of these goals. Knowledge gained from the summit will allow community members to be better equipped to address issues from a well-informed and global perspective.
The event is free but registration is required. The deadline to register is April 7. To register and learn more, visit www.globalissuessummit.org
