(FORT BEND ISD) – Clements High School senior Nicole Wu has been named the 2023 Distinguished Young Woman of Texas and awarded a $2,500 scholarship during a statewide scholarship program for high school girls.
Participants were evaluated in the following areas: scholastics (25%), interview (25%), talent (20%), fitness (15%) and self-expression (15%). Wu also won the scholastics and talent portions of the program. Wu will compete against 49 other representatives from across the country for the opportunity to become the 2023 Distinguished Young Woman of America at the organization’s national finals in Alabama in June. Throughout the next year, Wu will represent the state at various public events and serve as a role model to young people. Distinguished Young Women’s is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower young women by providing over $1 billion in scholarship opportunities. Participants also take part in workshops where they gain valuable skills such as interviewing and public speaking.
