City of Stafford Hires New Economic Development Administrator

(STAFFORD) - The City of Stafford and the Stafford Economic Development Council has announced the hiring of Paul M. Chavez for the City’s Economic Development Administration. Following an extensive and thorough hiring process, Chavez was selected to lead the economic development efforts of Stafford.

Chavez brings an extensive background in economic development to the city. He has served with the City of Seabrook for 12 years as the Economic Development Director as well as eight years with the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership as their director of marketing.


Additionally, Chavez has served on numerous boards and commissions related to economic development – including the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region and the Texas Economic Development Council.


When asked about the selection of Chavez, EDC Board President Wen Guerra mentioned, “As the President of the Stafford EDC, I welcome Mr. Chavez to this new position, and I look forward to him navigating us through the economic situation the city is currently in which will open more doors to continued economic growth.”


“I am so happy to have an employee like Paul Chavez. I hope his credentials and his enthusiasm will be used to bring in more economic developments to the city, especially the sales tax generating businesses while remaining conscious of controlling expenses,” said Stafford Mayor Ken Mathew.
